I may be the only one, but using Fiction Factory's, "Feels Like Heaven" for a freaking Reese's Peanut Butter Cup ad is blasphemy!

I love that song. It's beautiful, but it's not about tasty chocolate peanut butter cups.

I was okay with "The Promise" in Napolean Dynamite. That was perfect. This is not.

Anyone born after 1980, please visit these places to see what the old rambling woman is on about:

"Feels Like Heaven"

"The Promise"

Two of my absolute favorite one-hit-wonder 80's songs.

Obligatory 80's Canadian content:

"Teenland" - The Northern Pikes

"Call It Love" - Images in Vogue
(lead singer Dale Martindale was once host of the awesome Sunday morning TV show, "Switchback" which was the first TV show I ever went to a taping of)

Oh, and also on my list of peeves is S.
Dear 4400 DVD makers,

WHERE are the commentaries?!?! TWO for the full 4 disc set?! WTF?

NO Jeff Combs interview in the special features and NO Ira Steven Behr commentaries?! Not even Jacqui and Joel yukking it up? GAH!

GREAT GREAT awesome and amazing Jeff deleted scenes, awesome blooper reel (as usual), but besides that, kind of lacking in the special features.

For a last season, I was hoping for more. :(

A little disappointed,

Elisa

Just thought I'd share a typical passage of what goes out for Closed Captioning on the live show, "Attack of the Show":

OKAY. NOW, ZACH, WOULD THE LACK OF HD MOVIES HALT YOU FROM BUYING A MEW VIEW FROM I TUNES OR WOULD YOU BUY MORE MEW SPREES IN I TUNES IF THEY WERE IN HD:00?

*rolls eyes*

There HAS to be a better way of CC'ing, because although I can somewhat understand this, it's just not good enough.

BTW, I saw the strangest mew spree last night called The Stuff. Michael Moriarty before "Law and Order," addictive dessert "stuff", and odd, chopping plotlines? All I have to say is...WTF?

I think I'll bite the bullet and go over to the Americana. Although it's corporate b/s and their concert of old timers kept me up past 1am last night, the movie theatre looks absolutely stunning.

Back to work.

Okay, hate me if you will, but I was disappointed in Cloverfield.

And here's why:

- Monster = WAAAAAY too CGI'ed. Scary at first glance, but then just boring and ugly. The little dudes were so overly CGI'ed, especially during the scene when the dude slams one in the door. *yawn*

- How Liz could stand, let alone walk and run after being skewered by a large pole and left there for hours = very very unlikely

- My favorite character (the cameraman) died. Yes, I get why, and yeah, it's been done before. It's called "Blair Witch Project." Whatshername in that got too excited too and wanted to film and look what happened to her.

- Acting in general? Pretty darned wooden.

- Some totally SCHMALTORIFFIC scenes that were unnecessary and slowed down the story

- No one really was THAT upset anyone died, especially the main character after his brother died. Granted, they're in shock, but it was mostly due to bad acting. :/

The first 30 minutes were really fun. The rest just went downhill from there.

Disappointing.

As I was watching "Wake Up Call," I started thinking, What is the second book Kevin gives to Tess?

The first one is At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft (a lovely nod to Jeff Combs' work in various Lovecraft inspired films)

and the third book is Alice's Adventures in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass that Kevin leaves with Tess as he says goodbye.

But the second book has me stumped.

Here's a screencap:

Can anyone identify it?

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

ETA

Two more caps:

The Official (and final?) word on "House of Re-Animator"

Well guys, looks like there's officially gonna be no House of Re-Animator. :(

Stuart Gordon gave an interview today in which he said that the project is now officially dead.

Here's a quote:

"We could not find funding for it; I think people are still too afraid of offending the Bush administration...I mean, here’s RE-ANIMATOR, which is a very successful franchise, but nobody wanted to do that story...It was sort of specifically about what’s going on right now. Maybe we could rethink it or something, at some point. But it’s just one of those missed opportunities."

You can read the full article here.

I was hoping they'd go with Jeff's idea of a more Doctor Strangelove Re-An film, but it looks like they really wanted to stick with the Bush White House angle, which is too scary to be touched by "the suits."

I'm ever hopeful this is an early April Fool's Day prank by Fangoria, but I was pretty much sure this film wouldn't get made halfway through last year.

Boo. :(

I was feeding them Jeff info through the whole show while they were trying to get him on the phone, so I'm SO happy to have helped with that!

Wanna hear the plugs for the blog?

Go here and check out the show about 40 minutes in.
