There's a brand new AWESOME interview with Jeff and Stuart Gordon about Nevermore here
The thing that excites me the most? I've recently become fascinated with all of Poe's many women and was wondering if they'd mention anything about them in the show...THEY WILL!!! AHHH!!!! :D :D :D
And then there's this:
"The thing that’s great about live theater is that they’ll be in the same room, breathing the same air as Edgar Allen Poe, and he doesn’t always stay on the stage. Sometimes he’ll join the audience, so people are going to be surprised by Nevermore."
*faints dead away*
AHHHH!!!!!!
Click here for my ramblings on the interview and click here for Part One of a look back at Jeff's rich theatrical history.
OMFG!!! THIS IS SO EXCITING!!!
*bounces*
Yeah, I'm a little thrilled. :D |

"I saw an early preview performance for "Nevermore", starring Jeffrey Combs as Edgar Allan Poe, written by Dennis Paoli, directed by Stuart Gordon. Probably the best one person play I've ever seen. If you live in CA., I must insist that you go see this play!!!!!!"
AHHH!!!!! I'm both highly jealous and highly excited at the same time!!! :D :D :D
This is way too exciting for a girl. :)

NEVERMORE ADVERT IN THE L.A. WEEKLY!!! WOOO HOOOOO!!!!
I literally bounced when I saw this!!! :D

Scan of advert
Of course, whoever built the page knows nothing about proportions* or resizing (*used to work at a newspaper*), so I'm guessing they just plunked it in and didn't resize for proportions, hence why it's so streeeetched lengthwise, but WHO CARES!!!
It's a PRINT AD for JEFF's ONE-MAN SHOW!!!
AHHHHH!!!! *faints*
*Of course, the other option is that the advertiser didn't send a file large enough to fill the space and thus they had to do some "creative filling of space." That happened quite a bit at the Herald, too.
FWIW, ad builder ex tells me it's not an ad builder problem, but buying the wrong size ad space. Heh. |

HE LOOKS SO AWESOME!!!!! :D :D :D
BTW, in other awesomeness? The Steve Allen Theater is using MY VERBIAGE ON THEIR SITE to promote Nevermore!!!
This sentence in their description here: "Set in 1848, Nevermore is loosely based on real events and follows Poe on a cross-country speaking tour fraught with strange occurrences that signal Poe's descent into madness." is directly from my post here from more than a month ago!!! :D I'm taking it as an honor instead of plagiarism. :P Hehehe!!!! :D |

| | okay | ] | Someone just uploaded the 9 min teaser from Trick R Treat, the best horror/Halloween film still not yet released. I was VERY fortunate to attend one of a handful of screenings here in L.A. (I think there were two here and then some in other places) and absolutely LOVED THE FILM.
This is truly destined to be a classic. I squeed SO hard at the Herbert West next door neighbor at the theater, I swear I was making a dork of myself. :P But I didn't care!!!
So here's the trailer first. Check out the Herbert West next-door neighbor (which is an awesome tribute to Jeff!):
The West/Re-An scene is just hilarious and touching and very sweet (and the beginning of it is TOTALLY GROSS!!!) Actually ALL of the storylines are amazing. The kids on the bus one is probably my second favorite.
And then the nine minute teaser featuring my favorite little pumpkin-boy, Sam:
There was a dude at Monsterpalooza who made a Sam head and I had to take a pic of it. Check it out here. He hadn't even seen the film yet and did a pretty great job!
This is finally out in October. Good on ya, Mr. Dougherty. Can't wait to see what you do next! (Hey, put Jeff in your next film!!!) :D |

So I saw Jessica Harper...yes THE Jessica Harper last night at the Steve Allen. They were doing a double bill of Suspiria and The Phantom of the Paradise and even though I hadn't seen either film in awhile it was JESSICA HARPER there IN PERSON.

But overall, it was just nice to be at the Steve Allen again...:) |

Yes, my friends, I saw Jeff tonight.
It was totally unexpected, but totally amazing. *sighs*
I was curious whether he'd show, since it was the weirdest Stuart Gordon double bill - King of the Ants and "The Black Cat." I figured the latter was in prep for Jeff's Nevermore show next month, so I went in neutral, but was somewhat hopeful. Actually, that weirdass double bill was the thing that tipped me off that the Steve Allen would be the theater to run Nevermore. :)
Moments after "The Black Cat" finished (and as I came back from the bathroom), I spotted a very familiar leather jacket and adorable head and pretty much almost fainted. Jeff looked SO ADORABLE in his glasses and his hair is even longer than it was at FedCon! GAH!!!
Didn't talk to him, because there wasn't really a chance (and I was also in my dorky, dorky Combs Corner shirt!), but the Q&A was MAGIC! LOADS of questions for the boy, LOADS of praise about "The Black Cat" and his portrayal of Poe and Jeff even slipped into character for a bit. He seemed tired, but really, really happy to be onstage again. It just made me so pleased. :)
More on the Q&A here
I can't even think straight. I'm kicking myself for not bringing my voice recorder, but then again, I was pretty much almost sure he wouldn't be there! GAH!
Snagged 3 programs with the AWESOME Nevermore art and will scan it better tomorrow. Right now, I'm still incoherant and exhausted...gahhh...*faints* |
